AMAZON RAINFOREST
Do you know what the largest forest in the world is? The amazon rain forest is the largest forest in the world. Amazon Rain Forest has been in existence for 55 million years. This Rain forest has produced more than 20% of the world's oxygen. The Amazon is home for approximately 10 million animals about 50% of plants and animals live in this Rain forest. This can all change in a few years all because of the wildfires. Global warming is the increase in the overall temperature of the earths atmosphere. This affects animals and the planet because the weather has increased its temperature in the animal's environment. Their habitat is getting destroyed and their lives are put into danger that it may cause it to become extinct.
The amazon has been burning since July 2019 and hasn't stopped. If the amazon keeps burning the ecosystem will change. Many animals will lose their habitat and trees will start dying. Which will stop being a source of oxygen. Climate change will likely lead to increased temperatures this can affect water availability and human health. Fires also contribute to climate change, since they can cause large releases of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere, rapidly. I am writing about this Rain Forest because we need to spread awareness about whats happening on our planet.
Plants and animals in the amazon are used for food, research, medicine, and textiles. Having the amazon burning has led to animals having no food or water or even a place to live because of this reason many animals are going extinct. Animals are leaving the amazon every day to find a new home so they can survive. About 26 species have already gone extinct caused by the amazon. A great number of rare flowers have gone extinct because of these wildfires. The removal of plants reduces food, shelter, and breeding habitat. Something I can do to help the animals and the planet is to always recycle and pick up after ourselves. I feel like we need to start caring more about our planet because soon it will be gone and we will have nothing left. I wrote about this topic because we need to spread awareness of whats happening today.
The Amazon rain forest is located in a territory of nine countries. This forest covers 40% of South America. There are about 16,000 tree species and 390 billion individual trees. Having these wildfires leads many trees and plants to extinction. Which can lead to not having enough oxygen.
